Elon Musk Plans Million-Satellite AI Data Centers in Space
Elon Musk announced plans this week to deploy up to a million satellites in orbit, creating solar-powered data centers in space.
The initiative aims to expand artificial intelligence and chatbot capabilities without overloading Earth’s power grids or raising utility costs.
To fund the venture, Musk merged SpaceX with his AI business and is planning a major initial public offering.
“Space-based AI is obviously the only way to scale,” Musk said, adding, “It’s always sunny in space!”
Experts, however, caution that Musk faces significant technical, financial and environmental challenges, despite his track record of disrupting industries with Tesla and SpaceX. (Agencies)
