Eight Elephants Killed as Train Hits Herd in India’s Assam

In Assam, India, eight elephants were killed when the Capital Express train collided with a herd of elephants early Saturday morning.

The accident occurred at around 2:15 a.m. Saturday in Hojai district, as the elephants were crossing the railway tracks.

At least five elephants were injured in the collision.

The impact also caused the train engine and five coaches to derail.

Officials confirmed that no humans were hurt in the accident. (Agencies)
