Drone Strike Kills Six in Kyiv as Ukraine Hits Russian Oil Hub
A Russian drone has crashed into a residential block in eastern Kyiv, killing six people and injuring dozens more, as multiple waves of strikes hit the Ukrainian capital overnight.
Emergency crews worked through mangled concrete and twisted metal in the Lisovyi district, where residents described the moment the drone ripped through the building before exploding.
“It pierced right through and detonated on the other side,” said Vita, a local resident who witnessed the strike.
The deadly assault came as Ukraine intensified its own long-range strikes on Russian energy infrastructure.
Kyiv launched a barrage of drones on Novorossiysk, home to one of Russia’s largest oil export hubs on the Black Sea.
Several facilities were hit, including the Sheskharis oil refinery, a cargo ship, and a residential building, according to regional officials.
A fire broke out at the refinery, and authorities confirmed that three crew members and another civilian were injured.
Krasnodar region governor Veniamin Kondratyev said the attack had damaged the port’s main oil depot and a container terminal.
Novorossiysk’s mayor, Andrei Kravchenko, declared a state of emergency, while Reuters reported that oil exports from the terminal were temporarily suspended.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his forces used newly developed long-range “Long Neptune” cruise missiles during overnight operations, though he did not disclose the exact targets.
The exchange of strikes marks another escalation in a conflict increasingly shaped by drone warfare and attacks on critical infrastructure deep behind the front lines. Agencies
