Brazil’s Ambassador to Nepal Lins Calls on Foreign Minister Khanal

Brazil’s Ambassador to Nepal, Claudio Raja Gabaglia Lins paid a courtesy call on Minister Khanal at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday. During the meeting, Minister Khanal congratulated Ambassador Lins on his appointment and wished him a successful tenure.

Minister Khanal stated, “Nepal and Brazil have long maintained cordial relations. We are committed to further consolidating and making these relations more result-oriented in the days ahead.”

He highlighted the ample prospects for cooperation in tourism, cultural exchange, and people-to-people relations, stressing the need to prioritize collaboration in these areas.

He also briefed Ambassador Lins on the current government’s priorities and expressed Nepal’s commitment to continuing cooperation with Brazil. Minister Khanal praised Brazil’s leadership role in global governance, particularly in South–South cooperation.

Ambassador Lins, in turn, shared that he had already been impressed by Nepal’s art, culture, and the warm hospitality of the Nepali people within a short time of his arrival. He noted that Nepal and Brazil have already marked 50 years of diplomatic relations, which continue to grow more friendly and close.

Ambassador Lins informed that a Brazilian technical team had arrived in Nepal to advance cooperation in the dairy sector, and that a memorandum of understanding on collaboration had recently been reviewed by the Nepali side and communicated to Brazil.

He also mentioned ongoing joint research between Kathmandu University and Brazil’s Butantan Institute on antivenom for snakebites. Ambassador Lins affirmed Brazil’s readiness to cooperate in tourism, investment, and export promotion in line with the priorities of Nepal’s current government.
