Bird Flu in Jhapa: Transportation of Poultry Products Banned

The District Administration Office, Jhapa has issued a public notice calling for adopting high precautions following the confirmation of Bird Flu infection in chickens of commercially operated poultry farms in Damak Municipality and Jhapa Rural Municipality.

Issuing a notice today, the Administration Office shared that efforts have been taken to control by declaring emergency area in all four sides considering the area where the bird flu was confirmed as epicentre.

Bird-flu affected local levels have completely banned the movement of poultry eggs, chicks, feeds and poultry-related products, reads the notice issued by Officiating Chief District Officer, Tej Prasad Prasain.

According to Chief of Veterinary Hospital Jhapa, Shital Bhattarai, bird flu was confirmed on layers chickens raised in agricultural farm located at Damak municipality-10.

All chickens of the farm were culled on Monday after the confirmation of the bird flu, added Bhattarai. Similarly, information is being received that chickens have also started dying in Mechinagar municipality, Arjundhara municipality as well as other places. Cases of bird flu have also been recorded in neighbouring districts—Morang and Sunsari. (RSS)
