Bagmati Province Language Day Marked

Authorities in Nepal’s Bagmati Province are observing the third Province Language Day today with a series of cultural and official events aimed at promoting linguistic diversity and regional languages.
The provincial government began celebrating the day in 2024 following the implementation of the Province Official Language Act, 2080 BS, which formally recognizes the use of multiple languages in government affairs.
According to Deependra Subedi, secretary at the province’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the observance commemorates the law coming into effect after completing 180 days of implementation in 2024.
To mark the occasion, the Bagmati provincial government has declared a public holiday across the province.
