Energy Cooperation Talks With Envoys of India & China

Nepal’s Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha held separate meetings on Friday with China’s Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song and India’s Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastav focusing on expanding energy cooperation.

During talks with the Chinese envoy, discussions centered on strengthening practical, mutually beneficial cooperation between Nepal and China, according to the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.

Both sides also exchanged views on effectively addressing regional energy challenges.

They underscored energy and water resources as key pillars of cooperation, expressing commitment to joint efforts aimed at shared prosperity and public welfare.

In a separate meeting with the Indian ambassador, discussions focused on expanding collaboration in the energy and water resources sectors.

The Ministry said both sides emphasized reinforcing long-term Nepal–India partnership, with a shared vision for sustainable development and the expansion and promotion of regional connectivity.

The Ministry added that both sides expressed commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties through continued dialogue and cooperation.
