First Session of Parliament Begins

The first session of Parliament has begun today following the election of members of the House of Representatives held on the 5 March.

The meeting started in the multipurpose hall of the under-construction Federal Parliament Building located in Singha Durbar. It began on 2:15 PM.

President Ramchandra Poudel had convened the session of both houses of the Federal Parliament.

In the 275-member House of Representatives, there are 182 members from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, 38 from the Nepali Congress, 25 from the CPN-UML, 17 from the Communist Party of Nepal, seven from the Labour Culture Party, five from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), and one independent member present.
