Rally Aiming to Promote Kidney Health Organised

A cycle rally aimed at promoting kidney health was held in Butwal today on the occasion of World Kidney Day.

The rally, organized with the theme “Kidney Health for All,” was a joint initiative of the Ken Diabetes and Thyroid Centre, the Nepal Society of Nephrology, the Butwal United Cycling Club, and the Lions Club of Butwal.

Addressing the gathering, Chair of the Nepal Society of Nephrologists, Shakti Basnet, said that kidney health issues are rising globally.

“At present, 780 million people are living with kidney health issues worldwide,” he said, adding that in Nepal, 10 percent of the total population has kidney-related problems.

Chair of the Ken Centre, Dinesh Kakshapati, said that his family has also battled kidney disease.

He emphasized the need for combined efforts to promote kidney health by preventing potential complications and managing unavoidable circumstances.

He added that the Centre has recently succeeded in timely intervention in possible kidney health issues among around 400 diabetic patients. (RSS)
