RSP’s Ranjit Breaks NWPP Stronghold in Bhaktapur-1

Rukesh Ranjit of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected to the House of Representatives of Nepal from Bhaktapur District Constituency No. 1, breaking the long-standing dominance of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) in the area.
According to Chief Election Officer Navaraj Dahal, Ranjit secured 33,436 votes, defeating NWPP Secretary Prem Suwal by a margin of 5,289 votes. Suwal received 28,147 votes.
Meanwhile, Kiran Neupane of the Nepali Congress garnered 4,282 votes, while Som Mishra of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) received 3,721 votes.
The victory marks a significant political shift in Bhaktapur-1, where the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party had maintained a strong electoral presence for years
