According to the Election Commission, around 6 percent of votes have been cast across the country as of 10:00 AM today.
The commission reported that a total of 1,065,120 votes had been cast nationwide by that time.
Meanwhile, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari said voter turnout in Nepal’s election could exceed 65 percent, with strong enthusiasm seen among young voters.
Speaking briefly to journalists after casting his vote, he said voting has been taking place enthusiastically in a peaceful environment across all 77 districts.
“Voting began in an orderly and enthusiastic manner from 7 a.m. Voter presence and the security situation are very good,” Bhandari said.
Bhandari urged voters, political parties and candidates to support a peaceful and enthusiastic voting process.
The Acting CEC also said ballot boxes will be collected after polling ends and vote counting will begin afterward.
He added that efforts are being made to publish the first-past-the-post results within 24 hours after counting begins.
