The meeting of both houses of the Federal Parliament is scheduled to resume today after opposition parties obstructed the session yesterday.
The meeting was initially postponed for half an hour after opposition lawmakers disrupted it at the start.
As soon as Speaker Devraj Ghimire began the session, opposition lawmakers protested the government’s decision to dismiss Kulman Ghising as the Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).
The opposition demanded that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli address the issue in the House.
Despite repeated requests from Speaker Ghimire for a conducive environment to conduct the proceedings, the opposition’s disruption continued.
As a result, the session was postponed until 11 am today.
Meanwhile, opposition lawmakers also disrupted the National Assembly, the upper house of Parliament protesting the dismissal of Kulman Ghising.
They demanded an explanation from the Prime Minister regarding Ghising’s removal from his post.
The meeting of the National Assembly is scheduled for 12:15 pm today.
