Nepal Residents Rally to Rebuild Police Capacity After September Incident

In the heart of Kathmandu, the burnt-out remains of a police station from September’s unrest stand beside a brand-new, fully equipped police van, purchased through community crowdfunding.
During the violent protests, several police posts were damaged and officers injured.
Local residents, directly affected by the unrest, organized fundraising campaigns through neighborhood groups and social networks to support law enforcement.
The van and additional equipment will enhance police mobility, emergency response, and city patrolling, according to officials, who expressed gratitude for the initiative.
The effort highlights a growing trend in Nepal, where civil society steps in to support public safety amid political instability and limited government funding, strengthening collaboration between citizens and the police.
