Aircraft Skids Off Runway During Landing at Bhadrapur

A passenger aircraft operated by Buddha Air overshot the runway while landing at Bhadrapur Airport on Friday night, according to a preliminary police report.
Police said the ATR-72 aircraft operating Flight 901 from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur was carrying 51 passengers and four crew members. The aircraft departed Kathmandu at 8:23 pm for Bhadrapur, Chandragadi.
The incident occurred at around 9:10 pm while the aircraft was landing at Bhadrapur Airport.

Our local correspondent Dik Bahadur Tamang citing police said the plane overran the eastern end of the runway and slid approximately 300 meters beyond it, where it became stuck and sustained damage.
Authorities said all passengers were evacuated safely from the aircraft. Assessment of any human injury was immediately initiated, and no casualties have been reported so far.
A police team led by Police Superintendent Rajan Limbu from the District Police Office Jhapa has been deployed at the incident site for rescue and security operations.
Bhadrapur Airport is located in Jhapa district of Koshi Province.
