Nepal Election: Registration Soars, Deadline Extended

Nepal has added more than 281,000 new voters since the election announcement, as the Election Commission (EC) continues preparations for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, 2026.

The surge in voter registration comes after citizens were allowed to register using their national ID cards with photos and fingerprints, making the process easier and faster.

Voters Registration Deadline Extended Till November 21

Prime Minister Sushila Karki had earlier urged the EC to extend the registration deadline, citing high public enthusiasm and heavy demand for online registration.

Following her request, the EC has agreed to extend the deadline until November 21.

Officials have also reported technical issues with internet servers in some districts due to the surge in online registrations, prompting the EC to take measures to ensure smooth access for all voters.
