Bailey Bridge Reopens Route Cut Off by Floods

The Nepal Army has installed a Bailey bridge over the Budhigandaki River in Arughat within two days, restoring a vital road connection between Dhading and Gorkha districts in central Nepal.
The bridge was handed over to the Gorkha Road Project after installation was completed, according to the Nepal Army’s Directorate of Public Relations and Information.
Flooding on October 11 washed away the Gorkha-side section of the existing concrete bridge, disrupting transportation between the two districts.
The Army began installing the Bailey bridge on October 17 to restore access.
The 27.43-metre-long and 4.2-metre-wide bridge has made travel easier for local residents and is expected to facilitate the delivery of relief supplies and essential goods to flood-affected communities.
