Nepal Flood Death Toll Rises to 1,457, Thousands Still Missing

The death toll from the devastating floods that struck the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli river system on August 26 has risen to 1 thousand 4 hundred 57, according to Nepal Police Headquarters.

The latest figures, as of today, include two people who died while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu after sustaining critical injuries.

Meanwhile, 1,335 bodies have been managed after samples were collected for DNA testing, while 1,438 bodies remain unidentified.

The number of people reported missing in the river stands at 4,720.

The floods have also displaced thousands, with 1,231 people currently accommodated at government-run holding centres in various districts.
