Nepalese Short Film ‘Taste of Water’ Selected for Tasveer Film Festival

Nepalese short film Taste of Water has been selected for the 21st Tasveer Film Festival & Market (TFFM 2026), scheduled to take place in Seattle, USA, from October 13 to 18.

Directed by Aayan Pariyar and produced by Jyotsal Rajbhandari, Diwas Shrestha and Prem Prasad Adhikari, the film will have its North American premiere at the festival.

The selection follows the film’s European premiere at the 72nd International Short Film Festival Oberhausen in Germany in April 2026.

Taste of Water is produced by Risalla Production in association with Everest Film Academy and Simal Cinema. The film’s selection at Tasveer marks another step in its international festival journey and brings an independent Nepalese production to North American audiences.

Tasveer describes its festival as the world’s only Oscar qualifying South Asian film festival. The selection provides Taste of Water with an opportunity to pursue a potential pathway toward Oscar qualification, subject to the festival’s award and applicable Academy eligibility requirements.

The film stars Afanta BK, Anup Dotel, Sonika Shahi Thakuri, Chandra Nepali and Kamala Parajuli.

The 21st Tasveer Film Festival & Market will be held in Seattle from October 13–18, 2026.
