Heavy Rainfall to Continue; DHM Urges Public to Stay Alert

Nepal’s Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has urged people to remain highly alert as heavy rainfall is likely to continue in some parts of the country through tomorrow, raising the risk of natural disasters.

Authorities have warned that continuous rainfall could trigger floods and landslides and urged the public to closely monitor weather conditions and regularly update themselves on weather-related information.

Meteorologists said there is no need for excessive alarm over the current weather situation, but urged people to remain cautious and follow the latest forecasts.

It is said rainfall has intensified due to the increased activity of the monsoon system under the influence of a low-pressure system that has developed over the Bay of Bengal. It is forecast that the latest weather system is likely to have a greater impact in various parts of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, particularly areas west of Gandaki.
