Formation of All-party Committee Demanded for Search and Rescue

The House of Representatives members today raised various issues in the meeting. They prominently voiced for formation an all-party committee with the announcement of parliament for search, rescue, relief distribution and rehabilitation. In the emergency hour of HoR meeting on Wednesday, they drew government’s attention towards the urgency of road safety as well.

Arjun Narsing KC said the government needs making effective its efforts on search and rescue works following the floods disaster. The issues he raised ranged from formation of an all-party committee for relief distribution and rescue works to curb on black-marketing and easy supply of daily essentials like cooking gas. Referring to the accident of an electric jeep in Makwanpur on Tuesday, Pukar Bam said time has come for enforcing EV transport safety.

Even the maturity and experience of driver counts for safe travel, he added. So, EV safety education is timely need. In view of Dhananjay Regmi, there is no doubt that the Bhotekoshi flood was caused by climate change. It was further reinforced by the evidence generated through study and researches of ICIMOD, he added. Regmi suggested impactful presentation of Nepal’s standing on climate change in the upcoming UN visit by Prime Minister Balendra Shah.

Global warming and mountain agenda should be brought to fore, he stressed. Madhav Bahadur Thapa expressed concern over road safety in the Siddhababa area of Palpa. The under-construction tunnel there must be finished on time, he demanded the government. It was worrying to see brawl in Mahottari during the public demand of development works, Dipak Kumar Shah said, demanding a fair probe on it.

Lal Bikram Thapa shared that Itahari bazaar was getting inundated due to breach of river in upper belt of the city. It is essential to take immediate step to prevent further erosion and change in river course, Thapa reminded. (RSS)
