Rasuwa Flood: 1,341 Bodies Recovered; 4,996 in Missing

A total of 1,341 bodies have so far been retrieved from various districts, while some 4,996 people including 589 foreigners and around 100 security personnel and employees have remained missing since the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems on August 26.

According to the latest updates- till 11:00 am today- unveiled by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), among those bodies, 163 were found in Rasuwa, 195 in Nuwakot, 67 in Dhading, 362 in Chitwan, 74 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahu, 22 2 in Nawalparasi East and 220 in Nawalparasi West.

As of now, 98 bodies have been identified and handed over to the respective families. Total number of people rescued so far stands at 13,104, while 6,075 injured ones have been treated. A total of 3,652 affected have been accommodated at 39 relief camps in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Kathmandu.

The number of security personnel mobilised for the search and rescue operations stands at 21, 465 (7,975 Nepal Police, 9,287 Nepali Army and 4,203 Armed Police Force).

As of now, both food and non-food items have been supplied to the affected areas from Kathmandu with 83 truckloads and 38 jeeps, and nine helicopter flights, while the Armed Police Force dispatched the humanitarian aid materials to Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts in 173 flights. (RSS)
