Rasuwa Floods Update: 547 Bodies Retrieved; 1,471 Persons Rescued

Authorities have collected 547 dead bodies from various places following the Bhotekoshi flash flood that ripped through Rasuwa district on Wednesday.

The flash flood causing a trail of devastation took 547 lives and it is on a rising trend, according to the Nepal Police.

The Police Headquarters shared that among the dead bodies collected in different places, Rasuwa recorded 13, Dhading 40, Tanahu 29, Nuwakot 38, Gorkha 44, Chitwan 221, Nawalparasi Purba 134 and Nawalparasai Paschim 28.

Nepal Police spokesperson Abhi Narayan Kafle said 1,473 flood survivors have been rescued so far from various places. The number of people rescued from Rasuwa stands at 572, from Nuwakot 898 and Dhading 3.

Those found injured during rescue operation are brought to Kathmandu for treatment. So far, 94 survivors are airlifted to health facilities in Kathmandu. However, few of them are discharged from hospital.

Even the government officials including from the security agencies, Customs Office and Immigration Office have gone missing since the catastrophic flash flood.

The Nepali Army recorded its 44 staffs gone out of contact since the tragedy, while Nepal Police 27, Armed Police Force 13, Customs Office Timure 15 and Immigration Office Timure 4.

The number of people gone out of contact stands at 2,381.The security agencies have been continuing search and rescue works in coordination with the government officials, locals and people’s representatives. (RSS)
