Singha Durbar, the administrative headquarters of the country, is becoming more equipped. The Food Management and Trading Company Limited have brought into operation a subsidized food and grocery sales outlet targeting the civil employees.

Food Management and Trading Company Limited, which has been operating subsidized-price shops targeting festivals, has been running sales outlets at 193 locations across 44 districts.
The shops have been opened with the objective of making daily essential goods available to consumers at affordable prices.

On the occasion of the company’s seventh anniversary, five new sales centers have been brought into operation inside the Kathmandu Valley, one of which is located inside Singha Durbar premises.

The sales outlet inside Singha Durbar, targeting around 10,000 employees working there, stocks 142 types of daily consumer goods.

Inaugurating the sales outlet, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Gauri Kumari Yadav said it was launched with the objective of prioritizing Nepali products, connecting domestic farmers and industries with the market, and making quality goods easily available to consumers.

However, regular consumers have repeatedly complained that they often cannot find the products they need at the company’s sales outlets.

The company, meanwhile, claims that such problems will not occur from now on. The price of the products on sale in the outlet is slightly cheaper than outside.

In addition to that the company has been providing free home delivery to consumers who purchase goods worth more than 5,000 Rs.

However, some of the targeted costumers themselves are concerned whether Singhadurbar will be more crowded with the possibility of costumers rather than service seekers trying to access the outlet.
