Rolpa Landslide: Death Toll Rises to Three, Nine Still Missing

The death toll from a landslide that buried houses in Rolpa has risen to three.
According to the District Police Office, Rolpa, the body of another victim has been recovered.
The body of 71-year-old Manrakhi Pun Magar was found buried in mud on Thursday morning.
Earlier, the bodies of 60-year-old Kamal Bahadur Pun Magar and 18-year-old Shanti Pun Magar were recovered, according to DSP Panchakumar Bakhu of the District Police Office, Rolpa.
With this, the death toll has reached three.
Nine people are still missing after being buried by the landslide. The landslide, triggered by incessant rainfall in Kotlabara, Thabang Rural Municipality–5, buried six houses and cattle sheds.
Two people were also seriously injured in the incident.
With the help of locals, 22-year-old Himal Pun Magar and 25-year-old Sanjay Gharti Magar were rescued in an injured condition.
The landslide occurred at around 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday, burying around six houses and cattle sheds, including the house of local resident Kamal Bahadur Pun Magar.

The incident site, Botalbara village, is located about 42 kilometres from the Rolpa district headquarters and lies near the border between Rolpa and Baglung districts. (RSS)
