Monsoon Disasters: One Dead, 20 Injured in Past 24 Hours

A person died and 20 others received injuries in the monsoon-triggered disasters in the last 24 hours.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), the country recorded 34 incidents of disasters in 25 districts.

Such incidents resulted in one death from the snakebite and 20 injuries. During the period, 14 snakebites, 11 fire incidents, six landslides and three animal attacks were reported.

The estimated losses from these incidents amounted to Rs 2.72 billion. Similarly, they also caused roadway disruptions at two locations and resulted in loss of 18 animals.

Meantime, the NDRRA said that 4,053 disaster incidents occurred across the country since April 14 to until this morning, resulting in 196 deaths, four cases of missing and 1,291 injuries.

Likewise, 5,188 families have been affected by the disasters. (RSS)
