Madhesh Leaders Laud PM Shah’s Efforts to Resolve Recent Issues

Prime Minister Balen Shah held discussions today at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers with leaders from various political parties representing Madhesh.

He had invited leaders from that region to engage in dialogue on resolving tensions that have arisen in districts such as Sunsari and to maintain mutual harmony. Leaders present at the meeting said the discussion with Prime Minister Shah was positive.

During the talks, Prime Minister Shah sought the leaders’ views on how to maintain peace and order in Madhesh and prevent such incidents in the future.

The leaders present said they had provided suggestions for resolving the problems recently seen in some districts of the Terai, and noted that the Prime Minister was sensitive and committed to addressing them.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, the leaders remarked that such initiatives would play an important role in resolving problems.

After the discussion, Janamat Party Chairman Dr. CK Raut said that it was a very positive step for Prime Minister Shah to hold talks for the first time with Madhesh-focused political parties, and that they had also offered suggestions for resolving issues in some Terai districts.

Similarly, Rajendra Mahato said he had suggested implementing past agreements made by previous governments with Madhesh. He added that he urged the Prime Minister to increase government engagement in resolving the problems in Madhesh, and called for an investigation into the incident in Sunsari and timely resolution of the issue.

Leaders participating in the meeting included Dr. CK Raut, Mahantha Thakur, Rajendra Mahato, Lalbabu Raut, Samim Miya Ansari, Ram K. Sharma, Prabhu Shah, Amaresh Kumar Singh, Sharatsingh Bhandari, Jayakant Raut, among others.
