UGC to Provide Equivalence Certificates from Now On

The University Grants Commission (UGC) will from now on determine the equivalence certificate of higher education degrees. The UGC will take up this job from July 17, 2026.
The Tribhuvan University Curriculum Development Centre had been doing this job before this.
Tribhuvan University Curriculum Development Centre issued a notice today, stating that there has been an amendment in Section 6 of the University Grants Commission Act, 2050, according to Section 28 of the ‘Some Nepal Acts Amendment Act, 2082’, authorizing the UGC to carry out the work of determining the equivalence of higher education qualification degrees and issuing the equivalence certificates from July 17, 2026.
With the new amendments and provisions made in that law, all the responsibility for determining the equivalence of higher education degrees has now shifted to the University Grants Commission.
Tribhuvan University’s Curriculum Development Centre has also stated in the notice that it will stop accepting new applications for equivalency from now on as this new legal provision has come into effect. (RSS)
