Madan Krishna Shrestha Feted With Life Time Achievement Award
President Ram Chandra Paudel said that while becoming familiar with technology, the film sector should not abandon study, research, and creativity.
At the National and Special Film Awards and Lifetime Achievement Ceremony organized by the Film Development Board, he stated that Nepal’s film industry can contribute to the country’s economic development and urged everyone to think in that direction.
President Paudel remarked that if the stories and experiences of our villages, hills, and remote corners are portrayed sensitively on screen, Nepal can establish a distinct identity in international film festivals and global markets.
He emphasized that films are not merely a means of entertainment but also a medium to awaken awareness, inspire transformation, nurture patriotism, and preserve our native language, culture, and traditions. He added that films can introduce the natural and social life of the Himalayas, hills, and plains not only within Nepal but also on the world stage, making them a foundation for building our shared identity.

President Paudel stressed the need for institutional reforms, policies, laws, facilities, and incentives suited to the changing times to elevate the film industry to new heights. He said that not only artists but all stakeholders in the film sector should be properly recognized for their contributions and should feel that their future is secure with dignity in this field.
He stated, “Digital technology has made film production and distribution easier. However, while using it, we must remain conscious of protecting our original stories, human creativity, cultural identity, and the intellectual rights of creators.”
President Paudel expressed his expectation that the portrayal of women, children, Dalits, indigenous nationalities, Madhesi, persons with disabilities, and stories from various regions and communities should be respectful, sensitive, and realistic on screen.
On the occasion, veteran artist Madan Krishna Shrestha was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. (RSS)
