45% Voter Turnout Recorded So Far in Oli–Balen Battleground

The Office of the Election Officer has reported that 45 percent voter turnout was recorded in Jhapa District Constituency No.5 by 1:30 PM in the ongoing election.

The constituency has drawn attention as K. P. Sharma Oli, CPN UML Chairman and Balendra Shah a senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, are contesting from the seat.

Both leaders have been presented by their respective parties as potential candidates for the post of future Prime Minister, making the Jhapa-5 race one of the most closely watched contests in the election this time
