3,500 Projects Proposed for Equalization and Special Grants

Provinces and local levels have proposed around 3,500 projects for equalization and special grants from the federal government for coming fiscal year 2026/27.

According to the National Planning Commission (NPC), local levels have proposed 3,358 projects and programmes and the provinces 140 projects and programmes for this purpose.
The NPC had asked the local levels and provinces to submit their proposals within February 12, 2026 for the plans and programmes to be implemented under federal equalization and special grants for the coming fiscal year.

Assistant Spokesperson of the Commission, Dr Diwakar Luintel, shared that selection, cost estimation, and analysis of the plans and programmes received at the commission is underway.
“Study on budget ceiling and necessity of proposed plans and programmes, and details of necessary documents is going on,” he added.

According to the Commission, 2,820 new as well as 678 carryover plans and programmes have been proposed to receive grants of these headings for coming fiscal year. Towards new plans and programmes, 1,464 plans and programmes have been proposed for special grants and 1,356 plans and programmes for equalization grants.

Similarly, 220 plans and programmes for special grants and 458 towards equalization grants have been proposed under carryon plans and programmes, added the Commission. (RSS)
